PurpleOne is created to educate the public about domestic violence, to empower victims to seek help and to create a network of Safe Places at which victims can obtain referral information to Safe Journey, a state-recognized domestic violence agency that offers comprehensive domestic violence services. PurpleOne curriculum includes two parts: Understanding Domestic Violence and Bystander Intervention. PurpleOne trains member of the community including the medical and healthcare providers, businesses and organizations information about what domestic violence is, the impact that domestic violence has on victims and what to do if they see an incident of domestic violence or know if someone is being abused. Individuals will learn how to Recognize domestic violence, how to Respond if one witnesses domestic violence and Refer the victim to Safe Journey for domestic violence services. PurpleOne teaches individuals to Recognize, to Respond and Refer victims of domestic violence. PurpleOne aims to develop an interprofessional network between social service agencies, health care providers and domestic violence agencies to provide better referrals between all involved, and improved comprehensive services for all victims.
