Abstract

Addiction impacts more than just the person who is using substances. Families are affected in a variety of ways, which may include disruption of family structure. Parents and children need support in the family setting, sometimes in kinship with caring family members. This session will address common family concerns around substance use, and available resources to support infants and children, as well as their parents in recovery.

Objectives

* Learn how substance use can impact family structure

* Identify resources to support children and their caregivers

* Increase awareness of how to reduce stigma and families in recovery

* Understand support for post-permanency placements

Free CE credit of 1.0 hour for AMA, ANCC, and LSW/LCW/LPC/LMFT will be offered to those who attend.

Requirements include attendance for the duration of the session and completion of a course evaluation provided at the end of the session.
