Abstract

Cannabis has the highest rate of use or dependence when compared with all other illicit drugs. 24 states and the District of Columbia have fully legalized recreational and medicinal use of cannabis, reducing societal stigma and increasing accessibility. Increased use of cannabis is associated with earlier onset of psychotic and depressive disorders in adolescents and young adults. More care must be taken to educate about the risks of cannabis use in the younger population.
