Abstract

While national and statewide surveillance tools are not yet fully inclusive for LGBTQ+ communities, LGBTQ+ health remains at risk for not being discussed or prioritized. To address the specific health and wellness needs of LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, and Research and Evaluation Group at Public Health Management Corperration admimister the PA LGBTQ Health Needs Assessment, a biennial survey, to collect this critical data. Thousands of LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians across the commonwealth have participated (2018 n=4,679; 2020 n=6,582; 2022 n=4,228).

This presentation will focus on findings from the 2022 assessment, delving into the mental health, substance use, and access to care experiences of LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians in Northwestern Pennsylvania. By examining these experiences and their ties to social determinants of health, as well as resilience factors reported by assessment participants, attendees will be able to identify resources and strategies for supporting LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians in their local communities.
