Safe storage and disposal of drugs prevents them from being used in risky ways.

Why dispose of unused drugs in pouches?

Using drug deactivation pouches to dispose of prescription and other drugs is better for the environment and helps to reduce the risk of:

  • Drugs being taken by a child or other vulnerable person.
  • Using the drug illicitly or dangerously.
  • Using it to manufacture other drugs, some of which increase overdose deaths.

How does safe drug disposal with a pouch work?

  • Follow the directions on the pouch. If used correctly, the substance will become unusable in the pouch.
  • Throw the pouch away in the trash.
